Last reviewed: July 2026 · Updated for the 2026/27 tax year
All PayToolkit calculators are built and maintained for the current UK tax year, 2026/27 (6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027). Where a calculator is relevant across multiple years, prior-year rates are retained for reference and clearly labelled.
Calculators use official HMRC-published rates and thresholds for Income Tax, National Insurance, dividend tax, Capital Gains Tax, VAT, Corporation Tax, Stamp Duty Land Tax, and related allowances. Where Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland have distinct rates, this is reflected in the relevant calculator.
Rates and thresholds are reviewed at the start of each tax year following HMRC and Budget announcements, and updated as soon as confirmed figures are published. Mid-year policy changes are applied as soon as practical after they take legal effect.
Unless a calculator asks for more detail, it generally assumes a standard tax code, UK residency, and a single source of income unless the tool is specifically designed to combine income sources (for example, the PAYE + Side Hustle calculator). Individual calculator pages note any additional assumptions relevant to that tool.
PayToolkit calculators provide estimates for guidance only. They do not account for every individual circumstance — for example, non-standard tax codes, certain benefits-in-kind, multiple simultaneous income changes within a tax year, or complex international tax situations. For anything beyond a general estimate, we recommend speaking to a regulated accountant or tax adviser.
PayToolkit calculators run entirely in your browser. No signup is required to use any calculator, and no calculation input is sold to third parties. Where a tool offers optional local saving (such as the Expense Tracker), your data is stored on your device, or in your own optional account if you choose to sync. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
PayToolkit is a free information and estimation tool, not a substitute for regulated financial, tax, or accounting advice. See our Accuracy & Disclaimer page for full terms.
